THE Echo and four of its reporters have been nominated for a string of top journalism awards.

The paper been shortlisted for Daily Newspaper of the Year in the EDF East of England 2012 Media Awards.

Echo reporters have taken three of the four places on the shortlist for print journalist of the year. They are Melissa Hills, Gina Marden and Jon Austin.

Gina and Jon are both also nominated in the specialist reporter category.

Trainee reporter Jacqueline McMillan is in the running for the Newcomer of the Year.

The prestigious awards recognise the best of journalism in the East of England. They are open to journalists in newspapers, TV, radio and websites in Essex, Suffolk, Cambridge, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
