A Ukip parliamentary hopeful has branded the £63million Sadlers Farm road scheme a "gigantic white elephant" and a "waste of taxpayers' money".
Jamie Huntman, Ukip parliamentary candidate for Castle Point, criticised the road scheme, designed to tackle traffic congestion on the A13 and A130.
Mr Huntman, also a leads the Ukip group at Essex County Council, said: “I have spent yet another frustrating hour sitting in traffic generated by Sadlers Farm, trying to get off the island.
"All this junction has done is create a bottleneck for people living on Canvey Island. The Tory administration wasted a colossal £63 million on what has turned out to be a waste of everyone’s time and a gigantic white elephant.
"It just doesn’t work.
“What we need is a new road off the Island, to keep the traffic moving and the sooner the better.”
What's your view? Is Mr Huntman right?
