A MAN sustained a serious head injury during an alleged assault in Southend yesterday.
The man, in his fifties, was taken to Southend Hospital on Thursday and remains in a stable condition.
Police were called to Sutton Road at around 1.30pm, on Thursday, to reports of a disturbance in a garden.
An ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.33pm to Sutton Road, Southend.
"We sent a response car and two ambulances. Two patients were taken to hospital."
A 35-year-old from Southend was arrested on suspicion of assault and, having been treated at Basildon Hospital for minor injuries, was discharged to Basildon police station for questioning.
A 26-year-old woman from Southend was also arrested on suspicion of assault.
