Teenagers are being urged to be vigilant after schoolgirls were followed by two men as they made their way home.
A police spokesman said: "Police were contacted shortly after 6.30pm on Monday, September 14 with reports of suspicious circumstances in Furtherwick Road in Canvey.
"It was reported that at around 5.30pm four teenage girls were approached in KFC by two men who asked if they wanted to sit with them. They declined.
"As the girls were walking home, the men pulled up next to them in a black Ford KA and asked them if they wanted to get in the car. The girls said no and went home.
"The men are described by the girls as of Chinese appearance. One was believed to be in his early 20s, the other in his early 40s. The older man was wearing a grey top and baggy jeans.
"Enquiries are continuing and officers ask anyone with information to contact them on 101."
