MORE than 2,000 people turned up to see a 15-year-old girl triumph in the second year of Canvey’s Got Talent.
Georgia Garrett, a pupil at Castle View School, was voted the winner of the variety show for her rendition of Gladys Knight’s Licence to Kill.
Georgia, who has sung for her school for the past two years, said: “It was absolutely amazing to win. I was nervous beforehand, but when I got on the stage it was fine.”
Her next appearance will be at the Castle Point Show, on Sunday, but ultimately, she wants to appear on ITV’s the X Factor.
Elsewhere, some 60 contestants, aged between five and 70, wowed the audience at Thorney Bay Caravan Park with performances including singing, dancing, and magic.
A celebrity judging panel, including former Milky Bar Kid Steve Harris and Castle Point MP Bob Spink, voted Georgia the winner.
The event raised about £5,000 for care provider Havens Hospices.
Organiser James O’Brien said: “It was mobbed. The bar was down to the last barrel of beer by the time we finished.”
“Some of the acts were awful and some were brilliant, but they were all very entertaining.”
