A NAZI bomb was blown up on marshland near Canvey Way yesterday.
The bomb squad wWAS called in to deal with the 500kg Second World War explosive discovered on Bowers Marsh, Bowers Gifford.
The explosive was discovered on Bowers Marsh by RSPB workers clearing the area to create a nature reserve at about 1.30pm.
The bomb squad was called in and carried out a controlled explosion at about 4.15pm.
Canvey Way was closed for 15 minutes and a two kilometre exclusion zone was put in place while the explosion took place.
