A SUSPECTED fraudster has been cold-calling at homes on Canvey asking for money for her electricity.
Police are aware of at least ten occasions where the woman has knocked on homes and given a tale about why she needs the cash to pay her bills.
She claims to be new to the area or street and saysshe has run out of electricity and gas and urgently needs money for the meter.
It is believed she has been given more than £50 by unsuspecting residents.
Officers are now issuing a warning to try and prevent anyone else handing over their hard-earned cash.
The woman is described as white, in her early 30s, approximately 5ft 3ins tall with brown shoulder length hair, occasionally worn in a bun. She has no noticeable accent.
Anyone with information should call PC Liam Harvey, of Canvey police, on 101, ext 460125.

My fool proof plan for dealing with cold callers stating they can save you money .Simply state your current plan is excellent value and you feel you should be paying more this completely stumps sales people who simply cant broke their way round it !
