Hadleigh farm Olympic event: Essex Police advice
11:03am Saturday 11th August 2012 in Castle Point
PEOPLE with tickets for the Hadleigh Mountain Biking have been warned to wear sensible shoes.
Police have been dishing out tips to people going to the two-day event in at Hadleigh Country Park today (Saturday) and tomorrow which is expected to attract 19,000 spectators.
They are warning people to avoid driving to the area, instead using the park and ride service from the New Holland tractor plante in Cranes Farm Road, Basildon or travel by train from Leigh .
Cops have also warned people not to wear high heels or flip flops due to the loose stones, steep climbs and gravel at the country park.
People are also banned from taking liquids and alcohol into the site.
Essex Police ’s Assistant Chief Constable Sue Harrison said: "Hadleigh Farm is a great venue and we want everyone to enjoy their Olympic experience, but there is some advice we’d like people to follow. “We’d like everyone to make sure they have plenty of time to reach the venue and to have planned their journey.
"Hadleigh Farm is quite a bumpy and hilly area. There are lots of steep climbs, loose stones and gravel so the important thing is to wear decent sturdy footwear.
"Make sure you are ready to deal with the weather too. It’s a very exposed location and there’s very little cover if it is a hot day, or if it rains.
"Make sure you plan well, have a great day and enjoy the Olympics."

What I love is the fact these articles on the website were published between an hour and half an hour before the first event is due to start. Why were they not published on Friday, when people going may have had more time to read them?
