A Benfleet teenager will be hitting your screens as part of a new TV series airing next week.

Kiera Tippett, 13, from Benfleet, is appearing in a CBBC reality show called ‘Hero Squad’ where six children from across the country were chosen to learn what it is like to be part of the emergency services. She got to train with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, the Fire Service, Coastguard Service and even the Royal Air Force and was involved in rescues as well.

The ten-part series, which first airs next Monday on the CBBC Channel, saw the six chosen ones travel across the country to Dover, Exeter, Manchester and Wales on their journey to learn life-saving skills.

Kiera, who attends The King John School in Benfleet, said she had had the time of her life.

“It was such a wonderful experience and I feel very lucky to have been one of very few to train with the emergency services. I was given time off school to take part and got to see so much of the country. I met so many amazing people and am happy I had this opportunity.”

The first episode of ‘Hero Squad’ called Sea Rescue is on the CBBC Channel at 6:15pm on Monday October 8.
