Chief Constable of Essex Police to stand down
10:29am Saturday 17th November 2012 in County News
Jim Barker-McCardle
THE Chief Constable of Essex Police plans to stand down before the end of his contract.
Jim Barker-McCardle took over the position three years ago and has two years remanining.
However, in an e-mail sent to all candidates in the Police and Crime Commissioner election he made it clear that he does not intend to see the five year contract through to the end.
The decision is believed to be for personal reasons, but Essex Police are keen to stress that no date has yet been set for his departure.
A force spokesperson said: “The priority of the Chief Constable is to welcome the newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner to ensure the very best police service is delivered to the diverse communities of Essex.
"As a courtesy, the Chief Constable wrote to all PCC candidates before the election about his future plans, but his current focus remains firmly on policing Essex and supporting Nick Alston in the weeks ahead.”

A MESSAGE TO THE IDIOTS THAT DID NOT VOTE OR VOTED CONSERVATIVE YESTERDAY IN TNE PCC ELECTIONS
NOW WE WILL SEE WHO CAPTAIN NICK APPOINTS AS THE NEW CHIEF CONSTABLE HIS SOLE DECISION AFTER NOT EVEN 1 DAY IN THE JOB.
Still he was born In a police station and his Dad was a Policeman. 40 years ago (that should help)
Now the problem starts for new candidates for the position of Chief Constable and. Good CV will help by including the following:
1. Are they party a party member ? (That will help)
2. Are you a sailor ?
3. Are you capable of taking control of completely demoralized staff.
4. Will you accept we need Policing that will win votes for the party not the area, especially Thurrock who are mainly only Labourites.
A very sad day for impartial without prejudice policing since 1840.
Perhaps Mrs May the Home Secretsry will make the decision behind the scenes.
A message to Captain Nick lets now see what you are made of !!
Policing ain't like driving HMS CAMERON. Everyday in every town in this country the lads are at war not just in the odd conflict around the world surrounded by the best weapons defence system known to man, most are alone protected by the weakest criminal justice system in the western world.

That question to any possible Chief application should be asked and declared from day 1 not because it is in the eyes of theorists as secret organization when the truth is it is not as can be seen by searching the Internet.
The reason it should be declared is to actually stop all the conspiracy theorists beliefs.
I feel the main question for any future Chief Constables will be are you a Conservative.
Any Change in Government should get rid of PCC's ASAP otherwise certain sections of the population will grow into an even bigger conspiracy theorists group mainly from the left and THAT IS NOT GOOD!
The Police MUST BE FREE FROM POLICIES DECIDED BY ONE PERSON WHO IS A POLITICIAN and that person alone SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO SELECT OR DESELECT A CHIEF CONSTABLE.
Unfortunately that is what the Conservative very small minority of blind voters have voted for, is this Democaracy ?

Of course I can hear all the defenders of Masonic lodges, they have no power, philantropic organisation with no influence on politics and have no power. Then why are they so secretive?

just for the record as to the reason I did not vote: The police used to have sole discreation on how the law is upheld , if they were aware of wrong doing then they would act, its not the same now the police force is now to political so much so that the force is based on satitistical achivement and being told what they can and cant do by political hirachy, "as normal a done deal" give them back the power to do there jobs remove government intervention/constra
