Three overnight crashes in Leigh and Southend


EMERGENCY services were called to three separate crashes last night.

The first involved three vehicles and happened at about 10pm in Rayleigh Road at the junction with Lambeth Road, Eastwood.

One car had overturned but the female driver managed to escape before fire crews arrived. She sustained minor injuries.

The second occured at 11.30pm in Eastwood Road, Leigh where a Ford Focus had crashed into some trees. The driver, from Romford, had left the scene but later contacted police saying he had gone to Queen's Hospital in Romford with a shoulder injury.

The final smash took place in Fairfax Drive, near Victoria Avenue, Southend at 1am where a driver of a Ford Fiesta lost control and struck some roadworks and a lampost. Police are tryign to trace the driver who left the scene.

I wonder if these were the elderly drivers SBC want assessed, or if they were all young drivers? My money is on the latter.

Yeah gotta be young drivers as if it been elderly drivers they wouldn't have time to leave the scene, they would still be trying to remember where the door handle was! Anyway older drivers don't have as many accidents, they just cause most of them!

It's about time they were assessed as they are just as much of a menace on the roads as the young.
