More parking spaces announced for Leigh marshes

SOUTHEND Council has announced it will be installing 75 new parking spaces to address problem parking at Leigh marshes.

The move is designed to stop problems such as commuters trying to avoid station car park charges by leaving their cars on the sides of the road to Two Tree Island.

This has been causing access problems for tip and emergency vehicles.

Work will begin on Monday, and will take around ten weeks to complete, during which time parking spaces at Leigh marshes will be restricted.

I echo the above sentiment, I trust that along with the increased parking spaces there will be yellow lines along the road to ensure that the current problem is completely resolved. Also a good Idea would have been to have a 4 hour maximum parking time in the car parks, plus the yellow lines, thus instantly halting the use of them by commuters and keeping the road clear.

Perhaps it may persuade C2C/NCP to reduce their extortionate car parking charges if the council is serious of a £1 a day to park.

I used the NCP car park for many years, until they raised the charge to an extortionate rate of £5 per day! Just 2 years ago it was around £3-£3.50. Its been raised but what has been done to improve the car park....nothing! Cars are still broken into regularly. The only thing they have done is make even more spaces which means a longer drive around for most users!

The above is rubbish, even with cars parked on either side, there was still enough room for two cars to go past each other without stopping. The tip vehicles are no where near these cars parked on the sides on the road!

I hope all the dog walkers will also be montiored as rarely do they tidy up after their dogs, the evidence is everywhere!

Typpical tory council decison. Hopefully not sor much longer!

"This has been causing access problems for tip and emergency vehicles."

The road has always been clear at all times, with enough room for two cars to pass. I've never seen the tip entrance blocked - because it already has yellow lines!! Drivers even leave the emergency entrance to the skate park clear, even tho there are no specific markings. Who's calling all these so called Emergency vehicles? The Golfers at the golfing range? The Scouts in the Scout hut? The tippers at the tip? The Doggers in their cars? The only place would be the skatepark, and as I've said, the unmarked emergency entrance is always clear.

Its just another exercise to rinse money out of the public, which is needed even more so now that Lord Ashcroft's funding might soon disappear from the Tory coffers..

Ill be walking to the station now, and also to the polling booth!
