Brazen thief steals trolley full of goods

9:17am Tuesday 16th March 2010

A BRAZEN woman stole a trolley-full of shopping worth £600 from a supermarket.

The thief wandered around Waitrose, in London Road, Leigh, filling a trolley with a large quantity of spirits and other grocery items while talking constantly on her mobile phone.

She walked out of the store between 6.05 and 6.15pm last Wednesday with a trolley filled with loose goods.

Investigating officer Pc Samantha Bousfield said: “London Road is always busy with pedestrians and cars are often queuing at the traffic lights outside the store. The sight of a woman leaving the store with a trolley full of unbagged items would have been quite unusual so we’d appeal to people who were nearby around that time to think back. Do you remember seeing her leaving the shop? Or did you see these items being loaded into a waiting vehicle? Please get in touch with any information you can offer.”

The suspect is described as being white, about 40 years old, 5 ft 8 ins tall and of slim build. She wore a black coat, purple hooded dress, dark blue jeans and black boots and she had blonde hair.

Please contact Pc2643 Bousfield at Leigh police station on 0300 3334444.
