Champagne thief sought by police


A CHAMPAGNE thief is being sought by police after he struck in Leigh.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they believe swiped £60 worth of bubbly from Londis in leigh Road on Monday February 22.

It is believed he entered the store at around 1.45pm and concealed four bottles in a carrier bag before leaving the shop making no attempt to pay.

Anyone with information or who can identify the man is asked to contact PC Louise Beaumont at Leigh police station on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

People like that are all too common an occurence in Leigh. And it can only get worse.
