Leigh is looking for a Queen

Leigh town council is searching for a Queen.

The council is looking for a May Queen and Princesses to be crowned at the annual celebrations on May Day, Monday, May 3 in Old Leigh.

The May Queen will be crowned in a special ceremony and will preside from her throne over the May Day festivities.

The celebrations which will start at 1pm on Strand Wharf, will include a life-size Punch and Judy show, Morris dancers, Brownies maypole dancing, music and singing.

The council are looking for youngsters aged between eight and 11 who would like to be Queen for a day and if you would like to nominate your daughter please send her name, plus your name, address and phone number, to Leigh-on-Sea Town Council, 67 Elm Road, Leigh-on-Sea SS9 1SP by Friday 16th April.

The May Queen and her attendants will be chosen by a draw.
