Vandals smash window of moving car

YOBS smashed the window of a moving car with a child inside. Three adults and a child had been in a Ford Focus in Green Lane, Eastwood, when an object was lobbed at the side window.

It happened just as the car passed Scott Park soon after 5pm on Monday, November 28.

Luckly, no-one was injured.

This follows two similar incidents in Eastwood over recent weeks where windows on moving buses were smashed by youths.

PC Louise Wilson, of Eastwood Police, said: “We are working with local schools to try and identify those responsible. "It is extremely fortunate that no-one has been hurt so far by the thoughtless actions of the offenders and I am very keen to identify and speak to them as soon as possible so we can help prevent further similar incidents from taking place.

“I would ask parents of teenagers who hang around in Eastwood to talk to their children about these offences and the potentially dangerous outcome of throwing anything at a moving vehicle. "The suspects are likely to be bragging about what they have done, so if your child has any idea who is responsible for these offences, please urge them to contact us.”

PC Wilson can be contacted at Eastwood police office on 101.

Three incidents, similar time in a short period.
Shouldn't take the cops too much effort or brain power to catch these kids should it, in fact they should have already been in the area on Monday after the last two attacks at the end of the previous week.
It's not Britain that is broke, it is the police.

I was teaching last week in Romford & two lads threw eggs at the car hitting the windscreen directly in front of the driver. Thankfully the pupil coped really well despite the initial shock and then the lack of vision. Both lads were in their early twenties, both laughing & both idiots.

oh that makes it all alright then, dont worry about the poor baby that could have been seriously hurt, not to mention the other adults.

If and when your unfortunate to become a victim in cases such as the above be sure that due to the shock you slam your foot down and accidentally aim at the culprits.

Beth, don't get worked up over this joker. Either he just has a failed sense of humour, or was/is himself the same type as the scummy trash that through the stones. I hope it's the former. He regularly writes in support of the vile types like these.
The scum seem to be on the rise for the moment, I don't doubt that those in the judicial system will eventually be encouraged to hand down some harsh prison sentences and things will quiet down eventually. But don't expect things to change too soon!

This story has been up for 4 hours and we haven't had a contribution from boyracer/basildon, or whatever he is calling himself today (unless he is eioeio).

I live in this area and either drive, take buses, walk or cycle past Scott Park. This is very dangerous and I fear someone will be seriously hurt if it does not stop. The road there is pretty busy and, depending on the time of day, with a supermarket, school, GP surgery, pub and community centre all nearby there are people of all sorts of ages on foot in the area.

Im 70 years old and have lived in Eastwood all my life. So I dont understand Why everyones getting so wound up. Its only a smashed window it can easily be fixed. You shouldnt take thing like this too seriously. Most kids throw stones, even in my day we used to throw stones at cars and pedestrians.

I'm 100 years old. Was it you who threw a rock at my model T and broke the starting handle?

Sorry folks but I have to agree with the elderly gentleman. I too live in Eastwood and I have to admit this is just a bit of harmless fun for the youngsters these days. At least they are not out mugging old grannies and burglaring houses.

It's not harmless fun-it's endangering lives, these little scrotes should be birched when caught, I just hope they dont have the misfortune of throwing anything at my car or they would wish the Police were there to protect them!

Seems like you are another one who managed to get an "A in Stupid", when you were at school. Having a window broken whilst driving could, and sometimes does, lead to a crash, let anone the danger from the broken glass flying into the car. The side glass is not laminated like the windscreen, and pieces fly everywhere. Your other assumption that they are not mugging grannies or burgling houses is also stupid. What makes you think they don't do that as well Numbnuts ?

Quite agree bazza 1. The problem with road safety and irresponsible driving reports is they tend to get jumped on by stupid trollish idiots who treat it all as a laugh, minimise the issue or even celebrate their own irresponsible driving. And yet there will be a lot of people out there who have lost a loved one to sort sort of road traffic incident. I cannot imagine how they would feel on reading rubbish like this.

I think you'll find these types are just trying to wind you, or have a failed sense of humour. They really can't be as scummy as that and actually fess up to it - any decent person would keep quiet about it rather than face the shame!
On a more positive not - how about starting up a campaign to bring back the stocks. Imagine the vile scum such as these chained to the stocks in Rayleigh High Street on a saturday - the sheer humiliation would stop other wasters acting in the same way!

Likely a lot of cases now and in the future.

Every society eventually turns to DIY justice, the good must succeed over the bad, otherwise the most vulnerable suffer.

And we are not far off from that happening.

We need a strong leader soon.

It’s not the police that are broken either, it’s the justice system. The police arrest the suspects, hand them over then to be dealt with then some toffy, naive judge gives them a pass – time after time. Some judges need a serious beat down, so they can KNOW what its like to be a victim – ideally with the perps being caught and then let off! Most judges do – make them think more about the victim and the crime!
