FIREFIGHTERS and ambulance crew were called to Leigh Marshes this afternoon after a man become trapped on a barge.

The 40 year-old man was dismantling the derelict barge when a metal bulkhead approximately 6ft by 8ft fell on him.

The emergency services were alerted to the incident shortly after 12.15pm, and successfully rescued the man at around 1.30pm.

He has been taken to Southend Hospital with serious leg injuries.

hope he is ok, i was just working the other side of it all and he was taken to hospital by the air amabulance.

AND THE GOVERMENT IS TRYING TO CUT DOWN ON HEALTH AND SAFETY,CERTAINLY INDUSTRY ,AND BUILDING WORK ETC NEEDS TIGHT REGULATION NOT LESS ,
