A WOMAN was knocked unconscious by two robbers in a Leigh street.
The 30-year-old victim had just left her home in Marguerite Drive to go to work when she was approached by two men.
They appeared from a side access path between two houses, before one of them knocked her out with an unknown object.
They then stole her handbag which was worth about £800 with its contents. It was black with leopard print trim and contained two pairs of designer glasses, an iPhone and some other small items.
The men were both about 6ft tall and wore dark clothing but no further description is available.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area at about 7am on Wednesday, January 18.
Anyone with information should call PC Paul Brown who can be contacted at Southend police station on 101.
