  I am sure that the majority of residents of Leigh are not against the Grand being reinstated and functioning as a hotel of the finest order.
  The objections heard by the licensing committee last week were regarding Mr Norcross late night drinking application and had nothing to do with any actual planning application.
  Following up on Susan Jeffs comments that Mr Norcroft has already said that it won’t become a night club; then why I ask, did he request such a late drinks licence for non hotel residents?
  In one paragraph of this Echo article it mentions a basement spar and then in another it says that the spar will be housed in a single story extension. Likewise could not one minute plans be submitted for a hotel and the next it becomes a night club. Where then is the Spar to be housed? Look at all the controversy surrounding the Bell hotel in the old town and see how planning applications can be turned on their head.
  As for Mr Coxall’s comment if Mr Norcroft pulls out it will become a Tescos; where’s the proof behind such a statement?
  Yes, Bring the Grand back to life but as a Hotel with a drinks licence as laid down by the licence committee."
