TOWIE's Mick Norcross gets thumbs up for revamp of Grand Hotel

Plans for the revamp of the Grand Hotel in Leigh have been approved.

Members of Southend Council's development control committee meeting voted unanimously in favour of plans to extend the hotel in the Broadway.

Mick Norcross, who stars in ITV2's The Only Way is Essex, has been given the green light for plans to build the two-storey extension containing two bedrooms and extended kitchen facilities.

The proposals were scaled back from earlier plans for a three-storey extension with five bedrooms.

As the Echo reported on Friday, council officers had recommended the earlier, larger plans be thrown out but after Mick Norcross amended them they were given the nod by officers.

The Grand Hotel has been empty since 2008.

Mick Norcross has released a brochure for the new hotel which can be viewed by going to http://houseductive.com/images/The_Grand_Brochure.pdf .

This is fantastic news and should really underline Leigh's credentials as the classiest town on the Thames Estuary.

Hopefully it won't be long before we get a Grand Prix and international polo tournament to go with the spray tans and financed second hand Range Rivers.

The hyperlink leads nowhere (well, except to an error message...)

The plans look superb - look forward to seeing it in the 'flesh'
PS - No problem with the link but it is a 2.7MB down-load!

The foundations of this plan need support - not demolishing!

Good Luck Leigh!

You only need to go Brentwood High Street to see what you'll be getting.

37 Planning breaches
Multiple licence breaches
Violent fights nightly, some started by staff
Drug use prevalent
Councilors in the pocket of management,
(and as I understand it you don't have particularly straight councilors.)

And this is without the nighttime economy of bright orange chavs and chavettes with their impeccable manners.

Good Luck.
You'll need it.

Excellent news

Now perhaps the peroxide blonde mutts and the tattooed 2nd hand car fiddlers will have somewhere else to pose and leave old Leigh alone

Do they indeed...in your view but what about parking. Local residents don't count I surpose. There would have been more parking space in the front as in the past but the plans show space taken up with more drinking areas.
I wish the venture 'as shown' every success but am sorry that SBC had not shown a little more forethought for parking when passing the plans.
