Liverpool Street ticket office gets £250,000 revamp

Liverpool Street station’s ticket office is getting a £250,000 makeover.

Train operator National Express East Anglia says work at its busy London terminus will provide new counters and better heating.

Hearing induction loops will also be installed at every ticket point to cater for deaf passengers and counters will be height-adjustable to improve wheelchair users’ access.

Work has already been completed on the first three new-style ticket desks.

Paul Barnfield, London terminals manager, said: “The refurbished ticket office area will result in significant improvements to the service we can provide our customers, as well as a better working environment for our staff.

“They handle thousands of enquiries and ticket transactions every day, at one of the busiest stations in Europe. It will be a brighter, more inviting area with better customer service.”

The train operator, which runs services from Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street via Rochford, Hockley, Rayleigh, Wickford and Billericay, introduced “hosts” to greet passengers and offer help and information at the station.

Another fair hike in the sights then.

I wonder why it costs more to travel into Liverpool street at peak times than out of it???? Odd huh? And you wonder why people stick to their cars!
