Rochford district and parish councillor Maureen Vince dies

LONG serving Rochford councillor Maureen Vince has died from what is thought to be a stroke.

She was rushed to Southend Hospital last night and she died this morning.

Mrs Vince, 74, served as both a district and parish councillor in the district for at least 17 years.

And all her fellow councillors on Rochford Parish Council are absolutely devasted.

Please leave tributes to Maureen below.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear this, as I am sure are Maureen's many friends in the local Labour Party in Rochford and beyond.

Maureen has been a strong pillar of the community in Rochford, not just as an elected councillor, but in all the voluntary work she did too. The last time I saw Maureen was when she was working at this month's Farmers' Market when she was her usual bubbly self.

It is a sad day for Rochford. She will be sorely missed and my heartfelt condolences go out to her family.

Maureen was tireless. She really did have local people's interests at heart. She will be sorely missed and will be hard to replace.

A friend has just let me know that Maureen has died.
I am so shocked and upset. When I lived in Rochford, Maureen was a such a support, a real friend. She seemed constantly to be doing something for somebody - rarely for herself. Since I lived to Kent, we have stayed in touch (she composed the funniest letters I've ever read) and she would have come to my wedding last September if she had been well enough. She was intelligent, selfless, incredibly hard working, extremely kind, and Rochford will be a much poorer place without her.

She was a lovely woman all round, not just for the council and the people of Rochford, but as a family member as well. She will be sorrowly missed by all of us, family and friends alike. Farewell to a wonderful woman, Maureen Vince. R.I.P

I can not say how sad and shocked I was to hear of Maureen's passing.
I knew her as a family member, and it was always a pleasure when we met at family get togethers. She was a ray of light, and made every one that knew her glow when she was around.
She will be sadly missed by every one that knew her.
My sincere condolences go out to her son, his partner and her two lovely grandsons.
GOD BLESS MAUREEN R.I.P.
