Teenager wins £4million compensation from Rochford Hospital

A TEENAGER has won a £4million payout from Rochford Hospital.

The girl was left with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and confined to a wheelchair following difficulties with her birth at the hospital in September 1992.

At a High Court hearing the girl, through her mother, sued Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust -who today agreed to a settlement of her case valued at around £4m.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified, will need a lifetime of care and assistance after her brain was starved of oxygen in the minutes before her traumatic birth.

Terrible thing to happen to someone so young.
It's difficult to see what quality of life they can have.

Why do cases like this always take years and years and years and years and years and years to get to court.

I hope they add interest on the money paid, that would have been accrued had the settlement been made earlier?
