SELFLESS citizens will be recognised as part of an awards celebration.
Rochford District Council is asking for nominations for its Citizen of the Year award.
The awards are made by the council to recognise and acknowledge people for their hard work or outstanding achievements.
The categories are, Young Citizen open to under 18’s, Charitable Support and Community Spirit for all ages.
The overall winner will be invited to attend the annual civic dinner held in March to be presented with their award by council chairman Simon Smith.
He said: “Throughout my year as the chairman I have been privileged to hear incredible stories from all over the district of people who do a huge amount of work in our community.
“It’s so humbling to hear these stories and we want to celebrate those people whose only motive for doing so much good work is because it’s ‘the right thing to do’.”
Nomination forms are available by calling 01702 318144 or emailing julia.mitchell@rochford.gov.uk . You can also nominate online at www.rochford.gov.uk/citizenoftheyear. The closing date for nominations is February 3.
