House fire in Canewdon

POLICE and the fire service are investigating the cause of a fire in Canewdon.
Crews were called to Rowan Way at 2.25am this morning after a neighbour spotted smoke coming from the semi-detached house.
When they arrived, they found the ground floor well alight and had one firefighter stand outside to tackle the blaze while two more went inside in breathing apparatus to search for residents.
The house was empty at the time and the fire was quickly extinguished.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
