SCHOOLCHILDREN created colourful artwork by recycling fabric.
Textiles Awareness Day was held at the Sweyne Park School in Sir Walter Raleigh Drive, Rayleigh.
Organised by the school’s textiles and food technology teacher, Nicola Hann, and Rochford District Council’s Recycling Team, it was aimed at teaching pupils about reusing textiles through fashion and art as well as recycling.
Workshops included working with staff and students from Seevic College in Thundersley to create new designs from old clothes and weaving using pieces of old and unwanted fabric.
At the end of the day, the fabric was sewn together to create a large piece of wall art.
