CHILDREN at a primary school in Hockley are being encouraged to learn about recycling.

New bins have been put in at Westerings Primary Academy, with separate compartments for waste and recycling. It is hoped it will encourage children to recycle as much of their rubbish as possible.

Each class at the school already has a paper recycling bin in it, plus there is also a clothes bank outside. Officers from Rochford District Council have been leading educational talks and assemblies for the children to learnmore about how to recycle.

Adam Stainsbury, vice- principal, said: “Our pupils are already conscientious about living a healthy lifestyle and respecting the environment around them.

“By encouraging the use of these fantastic new recycling bins at school, hopefully our children will become advocates of their use at home and when in public areas too.”
