FARMERS and tractor enthusiasts turned out in force to show who was top of the crops in an annual ploughing contest.
The 69th Rochford Agricultural Society Ploughing Match and Farmers’ Crop Competition took place at South Fambridge Hall, in Fambridge Road, Rochford.
Roger Burroughs, chairman of the Rochford Hundred Agricultural Society, said: “It was very good, a very successful day.
“There were a lot more competitors and that was very pleasing.”
More than 45 entrants competed in four classes, including vintage and large agricultural reversible tractors, and were rated on their ability to plough the neatest and straightest furrow.
