TWO teenage boys have been charged with the murder of a man in Southend, who has just been named.

A 17-year-old boy from Basildon and a 16-year-old boy from Thurrock will appear in Southend Magistrates’ Court this morning having been charged with stabbing 24-year-old Anton Levine to death in St Anne’s Road, Southend.

The Mr Levine, from Dagenham, was killed on Wednesday, November 19.

Another man, also aged 24, was also stabbed. He remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Two other men arrested in connection with the murder have now been released without charge. They are a 22-year-old man from Southend and a 19-year-old man from Southwark.

Police enquiries are continuing and anyone with information about a group of men running through Swanage Road, Southend at about 10.30pm on Wednesday should contact the investigation team on 101.

A post mortem examination on Friday showed that the victim died as a result of a stab wound.

Neighbours have told of their shock, claiming it is the first major incident on the quiet road for years.

Southend's district commander, Simon Anslow, said: "I would like to express my condolences to the family of the man who has died and the injured man who is in hospital.

"Residents should not have concerns about being safe out and about in Southend or whilst they are at home.”
