A VOLUNTEERING charity is looking for new people to get involved.

Southend Association of Voluntary Services in Alexandra Street, Southend is looking for people willing to serve as trustees, to help run the charity.

Emily Middlemast, volunteer centre co-ordinator, said: “People often become trustees to ‘give something back’, but it is a twoway benefit. Charities benefit from the range of skills and experience trustees bring, but trustees can learn and develop new skills which may open up new opportunities for them, as well as meeting people who share their passion.”

No formal qualifications are usually needed, and the time involved can often fit around other commitments.

As the role of the trustee is quite different to that of other volunteering roles, the association is running a free Trustee Basics information session on Wednesday, January 14 between 6pm and 8pm to give more details. It will be at its office, 29- 31 Alexandra Street, Southend.
