A DVD showcasing the history of Southend has gone on sale.

The DVD, part of the popular Way We Were series, charts the rise of the town from its birth in the early 1800s.

Using newsreel, promotional documentaries and amateur film, it creates a moving picture scrapbook – a must for anyone with an interest in the town’s history.

From watching crowds shuffle up and down Southend Pier back in the day, to showing Thames barges bobbing along in the Estuary, the DVD covers every aspect of the town’s history.
