Serious damage has been caused to the front of a house in Leigh after a car ploughed into it.
The incident happened at Blenheim Chase at about 11.40pm on Saturday August 22.
A car, believed to be a blue VW Golf, left the road, crossed the pavement, travelled about 15 yard along the property’s drive and collided with the front door and front wall.
Investigating officer, Sgt Mark Ammon, said: "The driver of this car, for reasons that we are yet to establish, lost control, entered a private drive and collided with the house.
"The driver then reversed off of the drive and headed off toward Southend General Hospital. It is only by luck that nobody was injured.
"Had a pedestrian been on the pavement or the householder been at the front door then this collision would have resulted in serious injury or even a fatality.
"This driver has shown a total disregard for the safety of all other road user. We can only wonder how the collision occurred and why the driver failed to stop."
Anyone with information about the incident or anyone who knows of any blue VW car with recent frontal damage, should contact Sgt Ammon at Laindon traffic garage on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
