Theme park will make new world record attempt for most people riding a rollercoaster naked

Five years ago 102 thrill-streakers rode the Green Scream ride at Adventure Island on Southend seafront to raise over £20,000 for Southend Hospital’s Bosom Pals Appeal.

Now the UK’s Number 1 free admission fun park is looking to top its record and raise even more cash for Southend Hospital – so is now seeking more adrenaline junkies for the ultimate white nipple ride.

“We’re running the new attempt on Sunday 25 October 2015 at 9.30am, the last day of British Summer Time!” said Adventure Island MD Marc Miller.

“Of course, much as this is the warmest and driest part of the United Kingdom, we can’t guarantee the weather - but if you can’t get enough of being in the buff, you’ll certainly get a warm welcome. Plus as we are the fun park famous for asking men to keep their shirts on – we thought we’d give them a chance to take them off, with our blessing!”

This time money is being raised for Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation’s Keyhole Cancer Appeal, which is aiming to raise £600,000 to provide a new, state-of-the-art laparoscopic (keyhole surgery) theatre suite. This will enable surgeons to perform the latest and most complex keyhole procedures for patients undergoing cancer and general surgery.

Lucy Thomas-Clayton from Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation said: “The previous record was fantastic for us as it not only raised more than £20,000 for our Bosom Pals Appeal, but it also created a huge awareness of breast cancer and the importance of regular screening.

" I am hoping this event is going to be just as successful – as before we would ask those people taking part to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship, but we will gratefully receive all donations, no matter how big or small, so to speak!”
