THOUSANDS of primary school pupils across south Essex are still awaiting test results more than a week after the scores were due.
Secondary schools, who were expecting their Sats results today, have been warned they may have to wait until September to get the marks for some subjects.
Across England primary schools received the results of the Sats, examinations in English, maths and science sat by final year pupils, a week late on July 15 rather than July 8.
St Katherine’s Primary School, Canvey, is also still waiting for the results.
Headteacher Rosie Morgan said: “We are still awaiting the English results for our 30 Year 6 pupils.
“I am appalled by the way in which I feel our children have been let down.
The problems have been blamed on the introduction of a new online system for registering pupils and distributing results and the fact the papers have been marked by a new company, ETS.
There have also been accusations that some of those marking the tests have been underqualified and the results have not been fair or accurate.
Hundreds of secondary school pupils, who take their Sats towards the end of Year 9, have also been told they have will not receive their results until September.
Minister for children and schools Ed Balls has ordered an independent inquiry into the fiasco, but more than 100,000 14-year-olds are expected to be without the results of their key stage three Sats which are due today.
