Travel woe delaying £50m sale of airport

THE planned £50million sale of Southend Airport is taking longer than expected because of problems in the aviation market, managing director Alastair Welch has admitted.

Mr Welch also said it was important to ensure any potential buyers have got the money to push the airport plans forward.

It was originally thought the sale would be completed in June, but, nearly three months later, there has still been no announcement.
