FIRE crews were called to a fire in a block of Southend flats last night.
While Southend crews were attending the fire in Tickfield Avenue, Prittlewell, Rayleigh Weir firefighters on standby in Southend were sent to tackle a fire which broke out in the communal area of a high rise block.
The fire broke out at 10.30pm in Beaulieu Court, Wittingham Avenue but was out by the time crews got there.
A Fire Service investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident.

"Rayleigh Wier" it's 'weir' not 'wier' - o.k. so I accept that this is one of those weird (see what I did there?) ones where 'i' doesn't come before 'e' even though there's no 'c' but I would still expect professional (sic) journalists to at least have a grasp of this. Or for their editors to know this.
