One slip with his bowler and Danny’s off the ice

THE mum of Dancing on Ice contestant Danny Young has spoken of her regret after he was voted off the ITV1 show just two weeks before the final.

Tracey Woolley, 38, who owns Pure Indulgence Salon, in Elm Road, Leigh, said former Coronation Street star Danny, 23, was disappointed to be voted off the show.

Despite scoring 25.5, his highest mark in the competition, Danny ended up in the skate-off with Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson, after receiving the fewest public votes.

He lost after fumbling with his bowler hat prop at the end of his routine, leaving fans and the judges shocked and disappointed.

Tracey said: “We were gutted when he was voted off. I think the judges were shocked he was in the skate-off, because we thought he could go all the way.”

Having only skated a handful of times before agreeing to take part in the show, the rigours of performing complicated skating routines put Danny on a steep learning curve.

His proud mum said: “The judges did say he was one of the strongest skaters they had, and if it hadn’t been for the hat thing, he would have gone through.

“It has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster and it has been stressful for everyone.

“Our lives have been on hold, waiting for each show. He has done very well and we are so proud of him.”

Tracey said the local support Danny had received had been fantastic and thanked everyone who had backed him.

She added: “I don’t know what he will be doing now, but he won’t let it get him down. He has a number of auditions lined up.”

Good luck with the forthcoming auditions Danny - you are a credit to Benfleet (and Essex) - what a lovely guy you seem - genuine and funny!

Hope you're back on our screen asap!

So sorry you have been knocked out Danny.
I remember when you kindly switched on the Christmas lights in Leigh and you were such a lovely, friendly, helpful guy and so nice to all the fans who were dying to talk to you and get your autograph. You deserve to do well in your career. Good Luck for the future

well i dont think the judges were consistent, last week they voted off mikey and he did the required element and daniella didnt, this week they voted danny off because he fumbled it in skate off and daniella didnt. A touch of favouritism i thinks. Daniella still cant really skate without her partner propping her up. she spent most of this time in the chair, and last week i watched very closely to the spin and i am certain i saw her partner set her off in the spin, both times. You are the better skater danny, you didnt deserve to go.

Ermmmm, Beth, he lost the skate off to Kieron Richardson not Danniella Westbrook……. The judges said that overall Danniella's performanace was better than Mikey's and the same was said this week with Kieron. Someone has to go and as good as Danny was he dropped the hat and Kieron skated a flawless routine.
