MYSTERY surrounds the discovery of a man who was found with serious head injuries at his home in Westcliff.
Police were called on Friday evening after a visiting friend found the victim, who is in his forties, with serious injuries, at his home in Station Road, Westcliff.
He was rushed to Southend hospital for emergency surgery and is described as in a serious but stable condition.
Officers have been carrying out investigations. They said it was possible the man was involved in a road traffic accident.
DI Jim Sandford said: “We are trying to establish how this man was injured.
“He was found by a friend on Friday evening but it is possible that the injury could have been caused up to a day earlier.
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw a badly injured man in the area any time between 9pm on Thursday and 11.30pm on Friday night.”
Anyone with information should contact Southend CID on 0300 333 4444.

I hope he wasn't attacked in there!
