Police appeal for info after man found with serious injuries in Westcliff

MYSTERY surrounds the discovery of a man who was found with serious head injuries at his home in Westcliff.

Police were called on Friday evening after a visiting friend found the victim, who is in his forties, with serious injuries, at his home in Station Road, Westcliff.

He was rushed to Southend hospital for emergency surgery and is described as in a serious but stable condition.

Officers have been carrying out investigations. They said it was possible the man was involved in a road traffic accident.

DI Jim Sandford said: “We are trying to establish how this man was injured.

“He was found by a friend on Friday evening but it is possible that the injury could have been caused up to a day earlier.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw a badly injured man in the area any time between 9pm on Thursday and 11.30pm on Friday night.”

Anyone with information should contact Southend CID on 0300 333 4444.

Westcliff's not good at the moment. Hope the man makes a full recovery.

I live very close by to the crime scene - it's the same flats that were involved with the gun siege a few weeks back.

You're right Westcliff isn't good at the moment - it hasn't been for a long time - I've been here for 5 years and there have been no improvements at that place in the whole time - actually I tell a lie - in the 5 years 2 of the downstairs rooms have been decorated internally and THEN the same dirty grotty curtains hung back up showing no signs of improvement from the outside whatsoever.

This house - a long with many others - just need a bomb putten underneath - do us all a favour.

I do hope that if the man is totally innocent in all of this that he does indeed make a full recovery.

The crime scene is at the back of the flats so I'm assuming he lives in the bungalow at the back in the car park - if it's the man with the 2 dogs then I wish you a speedy recovery and luck in your operations.

Am I missing something? What does decorating and curtains have to do with injuries, possibly from an assault or a road accident?

All the same, better clean my nets just in case, can't be too careful nowadays!

Silly me, goes without saying, I hope the fellow makes a full recovery and the doctors and the police get to the bottom of what caused the injuries.

My neighbour didn't have any curtains for ages when she first moved in. But she's had some for a while now.

This is beginning to sound like an old Edward G Robinson gangster movie, you know:

"it's coitins for you buddy!"

Once again, hope the fellow makes a full recovery.

Oh dear I am totally LOL at my post!!!! Sorry I do not make any sense at all do I? Upon reading back I just started rambling on about the state of the house - without even saying which house it was - on reading these comments it's bought on a massive coughing attack of myself!

I was referring to the bedsits where this event has taken place - the same bedsits where the gun siege took place! And you're all right - what has the fact it's a grotty hell hole got to do with this poor guy that has been injured - nothing at all!

The police are still over there - the car park at the back is totally sealed off all around and there is a policewoman on the border and also 2 vans inside the car park - I wonder why so much investigation is still going on?

I hope the man is ok.

Spot on VictoriaLS, I wish I had your capacity to admit writing something daft without thinking.

We all do it, you're OK.

Sounds like it might be being treated as a scene of crime.

Do we know how the fellow is getting on?

Haven't heard anymore about the guy - I definitely think it's the man with the dogs as it's the little bungalow type thing out the back of the flats in the car park that is all taped up - I suppose that as they don't know what has happened to him they need to talk to him before letting anyone in the house - in case he was attacked in there???? I hope he wasn't attacked in there!

Hope he's ok - all seems strange!

I asked a PC why they had the back sealed off? He reported that they had two vans in the car park full up with their gear, and added that, in that area, people nick anything so they can't take the chance!
(P.S.) Before you start calling the poor lads names, they didn't really, I made this up!
