Residents offered behind-the-scenes glimpse of work at Southend airport

CURIOUS people can get a behind-the-scenes look at the redevelopment of Southend airport thanks to a series of tours.

On Wednesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 28, hourly tours will be running from 9am to 12noon to give people the chance to see how work at the airport is coming along.

Airport managing director Alastair Welch will also be on hand to talk about the scheme ahead of the coach tours around the airport and its new terminal building, control tower and station.

Places must be booked in advance, and are limited so will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

To reserve a place, call the airport on 01702 608105 or email tours@southendairport.com

Well you have over a month to arrange time off for your free tour, I bet it is still full for both days.

Judging by the demographic at the anti's meeting that I saw. The times slots shouldn't be a problem. ;)

No pleasing everybody is there!
If you are neutral, just go over and see the airport, enjoy a bacon sandwich and a mug of tea in the terminal building café afterwards, and keep an open mind on it all. The runway extension WILL go ahead, and in 18 months time there will be some scheduled flights to tempt you. Support, not hinder, all changes in the world. Especially the good ones.
