A NEW attraction in a Southend landmark is going down a storm — literally.
The Kursaal Bowl has unveiled a Hurricane Simulator at its amusement arcade which will allow visitors to experience gusts of up to 80mph.
Echo reporter George Thorpe experienced the hair-raising experience himself and was left blown away by the simulator’s power.
He stepped in and tried to read a newspaper, but the winds soon reached a peak turning the paper inside out and his hair upside down.
The attraction costs £2 and can fit either eight children or three adults at any one time.
Staff at the alley have already had some fun with the blustery conditions.
Phil Peries, a mechanic at the alley, said: “A few of the guys have roadtested the simulator and it has caused a few laughs.
“I think it is something quite unique attraction to Southend so I can imagine it being very popular on weekends and at birthday parties.”
The bowling alley is due to close in February.
