Southend road closed following collison

4:50pm Thursday 2nd February 2012 in Southend

EAST Street, Southend, is closed in both directions after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The women, believed to be in her 60s, was hit by the vehicle at 4.20pm.

Paramedics are currently at the scene treating her for a leg injury.

Was very near if not, lots of tape across road and even more police standing around arms folded or pointing up and down the road trying to look usefull, traffic chaos and mr plod helpfull as usual , where do they find them , if you ring you will be told no one available due to cutbacks

Wait for the old Pedestrians vs Car Driver's ranting again, on a crossing not on a crossing, didn't look just stepped out, driver was speeding, drunk, on drugs, driver on phone, pedestrian rushed across road without looking, driver didn't stop at crossing. I think I've covered most things. But all joking aside I hope she is ok.

The times I have to brake to avoid people running out accross the road near the station. It was bound to happen sooner or later. They cannot be bothered to use the crossing, or they cross when the red man shows. But after all is said and done, I hope she is ok. We all just need to calm down, think and stop rushing about, and thing like this would not happen so often.

the cure for these accidents is easy put speed humps like bornmouth pk road on all the busy roads ie east st sutton rd and watch them slow down ask my dad his car failed mot"humps mate"said the mechanic 15 20 now for daddy

Yes people do cross the road without looking but car drivers turn left into short street from the bus lane where the green light points right there is also a right arrow & painted on the road is turn right. There have been so many times I have been crossing with my twin baby's that I have lost count where we have almost been hit. Not one party can be blamed but both must be held 50/50.
