Abusive Southend United fan given three-year football ban

A FOOTBALL fan has been banned from grounds for three years after abusing police and stadium staff at a Southend United away game.

The 22-year-old Wickford man received a football banning order following abusive behaviour before Southend United’s away game at Northampton Town in January.

Unfortunately yet another example of neanderthal-type football fans, those thugs & idiots should show the same respect and honour that us rugby fans do, we call the ref 'sir' and are happy in the company of the other side's fans.....

You can't tar all fans with the same brush.

The vast majority of Southend fans are well behaved and do not cause any trubble, it only takes one or two to give the entire following a bad name.

And yet when a player (Suarez) is abusive/rascist they only get a six match ban!

As with everything it is the obnoxious minority who gives everyone a bad name in some people's eyes.

My apologies to all you true gents, my comments were only directed at the small minority who give everyone else a bad name, all the true blues that I have met have been a credit to their club.......

Poor chap!

What is he going to do with all that unexpressed abuse now he can't attend football matches for three years? Assuming he can read and write (OK big if) I wonder if he'll consider becoming a poster on here. Plenty of scope for general abuse and aggression:

Travellers
Somalis
Poles
Lithuanians
Young people
Pupils who get good GCSE grades
Benefit claimants
Single mothers
Residents of Basildon
...... ditto ..... Canvey Island
Councillors
Women who are foolish enough to allow themselves to be sexually assaulted
Teachers
People who believe in God
Socialists
Public service workers
Daily Mail readers
...... ditto ..... The Guardian
Young drivers
Old drivers
Car drivers
Cyclists
Motorcyclists
Dog owners
Cat owners

(Oh my God I'm on over ten hate lists)

Hmmmm, so many targets, where to start?

If professional footballers who spend half the game swearing and abusing the referee got similar punishments then maybe the fans would realise that it is unacceptable. They are only doing what they see their role models do.

John, just because you are a single mother who travelled from lithuania on a bicycle to Canvey so you could claim benefits while reading the guardian and stroking your dog with the other hand whilst moaning on the phone to public service workers about young people, there's no need to start with that kind of talk ......

Ha ha ha!

mmmmmmm about 50/50 I would say, suggest maybe you shouldn't apply for a job as one of police profilers. 80/20 is safer if you are after an arrest and conviction.

The Guardian is probably obvious so I'll admit to that one now as a goodwill gesture.

Guilty as charged M'Lud.
On the subject of role (roll) models, say this sequence of words quite fast, and then say the next word that comes into your mind:
Cheese Roll
Ham Roll
Casserole
Rissole
??????

Where's the proof that Suarez is a racist???? The pro Man Utd FA.... the un apologetic Man Utd... I don't condone an offence if it's been proved. Maybe the sentence is harsh but really there is no comparison.

I understand that Suarez' granddad was black, so technically Suarez is a black man.
How can a black man calling another black man black be racist?
Mincer - please note that racist in this context is correct, not that rubbish that you continually dribble ad nauseum.

I wonder what the abusive behaviour was?
Did he complain about the pies?
I feel sorry for the Luis Suarez dentist, it can't be an easy job.

Seems a bit harsh to me. Northampton was a bit tame compared to some away grounds. Lost count the number of times I've been called "Gippo" and "Pikey Scum" and told to go back to Dale Farm. Wish these brain dead fans would look on the map as Basildon has exclusive rights to these BasOirish. If I was this fella I'd get a Hijab. No one would dare ask you to take down the veil.

What would the punishment be if he had been drunk in Southend High Street on a Saturday night ?

Not a 3 year ban, I am sure.
