A HOMELESS man had to be rescued from a burning empty office block last night.
Firefighters from Southend had to wake up the 19-year-old after they were called out to Carby and Heath House in Victoria Avenue at about 9.05pm.
After saving the man, officers were able to find him a hostel bed for the night.
Crews from Southend and Leigh tackled the fire which was extinguished by 9.45pm.

Why are these buildings not demolished before they fall down they are a disgrace on the town.
