Man in court following Rayleigh burglary

A MAN has appeared in court following an early-morning burglary in a Rayleigh home.

Police rushed to Lodge Close just after 4.30am on June 21 following reports a home had been broken into.

A number of items taken from the home were recovered by officers nearby.

Two men were arrested later that day.

Jason Lewin, 26, a care assistant of St Mark's Field, Rochford was charged with aggravated burglary and appeared at Southend Magistrates' Court this morning (Saturday).

He was remanded in custody prior to his appearance at Basildon Magistrates' Court on August 3.

The second man, in his 20s from Southend, is still in hospital after sustaining inuries following the burglary and prior to his police arrest.
