A PROTEST march is being held in Southend on Saturday.
Southend Against The Cuts, an umbrella group linking trade unions, community groups and supporters, has organised the rally in the High Street.
The theme is "Austerity Isn't Working - Defend Our Services".
Marchers will assemble at the top of Pier Hill at 12pm and end at Victoria Circus at 1pm.
Speakers are expected in Southend from a range of groups including trade union UNISON representing local government and health, PCS representing civil servants and RMT representing rail workers.
A spokesperson for the campaign said: “The opinion polls show that people have turned against current Coalition economic policies. Austerity isn’t working and we can all see the impact.“
