One man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a serious crash on the Dartford Crossing.
Officers from Kent Police were called at 4.42am today to a report of a collision involving two vehicles on the southbound Dartford River Crossing.
A spokesman said: "Officers are at the scene and one person has been taken to a London hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries.
"The bridge is closed while the emergency services deal with the incident and a diversion is in place through the east tunnel and is likely to remain until at least midday. Traffic is much heavier in the area than usual.
"One man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in custody at this time."

An ambulance spokesman said: "The East of England Ambulance Service Trust was called to a road traffic collision on the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at 4.18am this morning.

"An ambulance, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer and the South East Coast Air Ambulance attended and treated a patient with a head injury.
"The patient was flown to Kings College Hospital and is believed to be in a serious condition."
