THIS is the amazing moment a dad filmed a bee WAVING at his young daughter.

Samuel Higham and three-year-old daughter Olivia were on their way back from St Andrew's nursery in Oswaldtwistle when they spotted the bee on the ground struggling to fly.

Mr Higham says they took the bee home, fed it some sugar water and then released it.

The 28-year-old said his daughter then found the same bee outside their home two days later so they brought it back inside.

It was then that he captured the insect seemingly waving at his daughter.

Mr Higham said: “I honestly cannot believe what happened. Me and Olivia found the bee outside her nursery when I went to pick her up.

"We took it home and gave it sugar in water.

"When it looked like it was getting active again we released it back outside.

"Then yesterday morning, Olivia was playing in the front garden and started shouting 'bee, bee'."

He added: "I went to the front door and there on the doorstep was the same bee from two days earlier.

"We brought it in again and gave it sugar in water again.

"I started filming the bee and Olivia waved at it which I thought was cute.

"But when the bee waved back I thought I was seeing things.

"I watched the video over and over again.

"I put the video on Facebook and people were as gobsmacked as me. It's had more than 1,000 views already in just a day."

It is not the first time a bee has been captured on camera seemingly waving.

It is understood that a bee raising its leg may in fact be a defensive behaviour to warn off would-be attackers.

Mr Higham and his daughter released the bee back into their garden again after the second film.
