A SOCIAL club for pensioners is celebrating its 60th year.

The Rayleigh No 1 Club has 125 members, many of whom enjoyed a lunch and party to mark the occasion.

The club meets every Monday afternoon at Mill Hall in Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh, where the party was held.

The club is popular - its membership has never dipped below 70, with one member coming along for 27 years.

Chairman Dave Reed said: "This is a very special occasion for us. We are very popular and even have a waiting list."
