South Essex Amateur Radio Society put its members' skills on show at a special event at Rayleigh Mill.

The society was part of the annual Windmills on the Air event, offering demonstrations of amateur radio to visitors throughout the day.

The event was organised by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and aimed to link as many windmills as possible by radio, including some not usually open to the public.

Operators at Rayleigh contacted colleagues at Upminster, Woodbridge Tide Mill, Stock, Bocking and Mountnessing windmills.

The society's next outing will be at next month's Castle Point Show, For further information about the society, call 01268 697978, or go to www.southessex.ars.bt internet.co.uk
