What conclusions will be drawn?

The Echo is carrying council adverts reminding us the Basildon District Local Development Framework consultations have to be submitted by November 30.

Has anyone logged on to the site yet? Is it just me or are the 45 questions as misleading as they seem?

Every single question says "should such and such be an issue for the Core Strategy?" - to which an open-minded person would answer "Yes - everything should be considered".

I confess to a vested interest as a member of the Wickford Action Group, but I thought this would give Wickford residents the opportunity to vent their views on the masterplan.

But there is only one question on the masterplan: "Do you think that the poor relative retail performance and lack of diverse evening economy in Wickford Town Centre is an issue for the Core Strategy?"

The question that should be asked is "Should the Wickford masterplan be completely rethought using the genuine views of residents?"

Once this is done, it could then be part of the development plan, which currently won't be the case.

So one wonders what conclusions the planners will draw from the responses. The answer is of course "their own already decided conclusions" as they did last time.
